suarts:

We recently attended Made in Arts London independent exhibition, ‘Intersection’ at Hoxton Arches. MiAL is a not for profit enterprise within the Students Union’ (us! ?) that sells and promotes student art.

From current students to graduates, to illustrators, sculptors, fine art and fashion students, MiAL is the go-to platform for getting your work out there!

‘Intersection’ was buzzing as we walked into the gallery space ? . As a UAL student, it was awesome to see other student work displayed in such a well-crafted and lively space.

? WHAT WE LOVED ?

We loved it ALL but a few of our faves were:

image

Olga Krasanova’s prints, ‘A Couple,’ ‘Inward,’ and ‘Bad Hair Day.’ I think we can all relate to that last one, am I right? ?  Olga completed her BA in Graphic Design at CSM and her work represents the quirkiness of the everyday!

Monica Alcazar-Duarte’s interactive installation and photobook, ‘Astro.’ Monica completed her MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at LCC. Monica’s work investigates how audiences read and connect with images and information. Crazy fun and interactive – ‘Astro’ was a highlight of ‘Intersection’ especially to discover the many bobs, facets and bits of the installation!

Cadi Froehlich’s ‘In Context’ piece was so cooly instagrammable and created through online data collection. Cadi requested her fellow ‘Intersection’ artists to complete a survey regarding their experience with their art for ‘Intersection.’ Each wire represents a different artist and the dips, curves and heights represent how each artist felt during the creative process. Cadi studied her MA in Fine Art at Camberwell and Chelsea College of Arts.

Marta Barina’s multimedia installation ‘Great Waves’ ??.. Marta is currently studying her BA in Photography at Camberwell. Marta’s installation for ‘Intersection’ was inspired by a Japanese story about the feeling of waves as power. Marta’s wavey sculptures invited the audience to look (and sound! ?) deeply into the practice of the artist.

Lastly, we loved the 5 limited edition illustrations made exclusively by MiAL artists for ‘Intersection’! Each illustration reflected the vibrant and colourful nature of London and they are still available to purchase online here. ?
